How Cabool Arrests Work
Two different offices keep the paper trail after a Cabool arrest. Cabool Police owns any incident or arrest report its officers write. If the person goes to the Texas County Justice Center Jail, the sheriff takes over. That office holds the booking and custody record. The two records answer different questions. One describes the event itself. The other tracks bond, holds, release, or transfer as the jail logged it.
Cabool counted 1,946 residents in the 2020 Census. That makes it the county's third-largest city. Police Chief Jerald Sigman and Assistant Chief Walter Darter are named on the current staff page. It lists police and city-clerk contacts but no arrest log or blotter. An older cabool.org page carries outdated details. The live caboolmo.gov domain is the one that counts.
How a Cabool arrest proceeds: Booking at the county jail creates the arrest record. From there, the case moves through the Texas County court system.
Where Cabool Arrests Appear
Cabool and Texas County publish no public booking feed. So a solid lookup starts with direct official contact. Each channel that follows has a narrower purpose, and no single result covers arrest, custody, and case outcome at once.
| Channel | Best use | Key caution |
|---|---|---|
| Cabool city staff | Official police and clerk contacts | No public arrest log or photo viewer |
| Texas County Sheriff/Jail | Official county custody and booking request | A city arrest does not guarantee county intake |
| MOVANS/VINELink | Possible custody status or alert | Live county participation is unconfirmed |
| Case.net | Filed case, hearings, and disposition | Not a live booking roster |
| Houston Herald | Cabool and Law & Order news leads | Selective editorial coverage |
| Unofficial county page | Historical lead only | Visible records were stale and often lacked photos |
One commercial county page did list Cabool among its cities, but its visible arrest dates ran only to 2013 and 2014. Other major Missouri directories offered no Texas County section at all. Treat none of them as a stand-in for a current call, records request, or court check.
Trace a Cabool Arrest
Start close to the event. Then work outward through custody and court sources. Note the time of each check, since a person can be in custody before any data posts, or released before a status search even starts.
- Contact Cabool Police at 417-962-3993 when its officers may have made the arrest. Ask who serves as records custodian.
- Call the city clerk at 417-962-3136 if the police request route is unclear.
- Call the Texas County Sheriff/Jail at 417-967-4165 to confirm county custody, intake, release, hold, or transfer.
- Try Missouri MOVANS using full name and another identifier, but do not treat a blank result as proof of no arrest.
- Search Case.net later for a Texas County or 25th Judicial Circuit filing and verify more than the name.
- Send a focused written request to the agency that owns the report or booking item.
For the wider picture, the Texas County arrest-record overview covers the jail, mugshots, records law, warrants, and custody layers. A county jail release does not mean the case was dismissed. And a court entry missing at the moment of a search does not rule out a fresh Cabool arrest.
Cabool Police Records Route
The current city site offers no police records form. Reach the city clerk at clerk@caboolmo.gov or 417-962-3136, or contact the police custodian at cpdcop@yahoo.com or 417-962-3993. Keep any Missouri Sunshine request narrow. List the name, event date, location, arresting agency, and the exact report sought. Ask about a photograph as its own item. If county jail staff took the booking photo, that request goes to the sheriff instead.

The city posts no local fee schedule or production deadline. Missouri ยง610.023.3 still requires a response. That deadline is the close of the third business day. That does not guarantee the full record by then. The custodian may produce it, explain added time, or state a lawful denial. Under the Attorney General's guidance, charges can reach ten cents per page. Staff and research costs add on top. Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate. The current Cabool staff page confirms the police leadership and contact route.

That staff page is an agency directory. It lists no current roster of people booked into jail.
No Cabool Arrest Feed
Cabool keeps no city arrest feed. There is no roster to refresh, no weekly cadence, and no online archive to search. Calls have to do the work. City police can name the report custodian. The sheriff can say whether someone sits in the county jail. Keep those calls separate, because city and county records begin at different stages.
The old cabool.org police page is not a fix. Its details clash with the current city source. A page can carry the city name and still be stale. Check the domain, staff name, phone, and date before trusting it. Copied directory entries and commercial arrest pages deserve the same caution.
Same-day questions should start with a phone. Ask if the person is physically at the Justice Center. Ask whether intake finished. Ask which agency made the arrest. Ask whether any hold or transfer affects the status. Dispatch cannot interpret the court record. If the person is absent, ask about release, transfer, or the proper custodian. The county publishes no web cadence, so no delay can be measured against one.
MOVANS can back that call up. It allows searches by name, offender ID, court case number, or protective-order case number. Birth date or age range narrows the results. A hit may show custody status, the reporting agency, and sometimes an agency photo. Texas County participation has no current county confirmation. A blank result could mean delay, release, transfer, another agency, or no participation at all.
Cabool News Source Context
The Houston Herald covers Cabool through its own navigation and a Law & Order category. Source ownership matters here. One older story blended Missouri State Highway Patrol information with a Cabool Police hold. It also named the Texas County Jail. A single article can name several agencies and custody stages. Watch who made the arrest, who held the person, and when the story ran.
News picks the unusual. It never promises every name, standard booking fields, photos, or a daily schedule. Verify a story through the named agency's report. Case.net shows any later filing.
Note: An old article can stay searchable long after custody ends or a charge changes.
Cabool Custody to Court
Missouri Case.net can show docket activity, hearings, charges, pleas, and disposition once a case is filed and public. The Texas County Circuit Clerk says local entries appear in real time once entered. A statewide participating-courts search may lag by about three hours. That gap starts after entry. Case.net is no same-day custody tool.
MODOC matters only once someone enters active state supervision or incarceration. BOP covers federal custody. DHS-VINE covers immigration detention. A transfer can pull someone out of county custody while the case lives on. Confirm each handoff in the matching official system.
- Hold
- A custody reason that may come from another court or agency.
- Transfer
- A move to another custodian.
- Disposition
- The court's later resolution of the filed case.
A solid identity match needs more than a name. Add birth date, event date, agency, booking identifier, or court case number when known. Keep sensitive identifiers out of public notes. When two sources clash, save the time each was checked and ask the record owner to explain the current status. MOVANS can support a custody inquiry. The current county pages do not confirm live Texas County jail data there.
Missouri law keeps parts of a police file closed. Active investigative sections, juvenile peace-officer records, protected victim data, and personal identifiers may be withheld or redacted. Section 610.100 also changes access when no charge is filed within 30 days. Ask for the statutory reason behind any withholding. Request whatever non-exempt portion exists. Old directories and unsupported accounts should not fill the gap.
Age changes the custodian too. The statewide sheriff retention schedule sets a five-year minimum for arrest logs, files, registers, and booking sheets. That schedule does not prove what happened to one Cabool or Texas County record. Ask the city or sheriff which schedule applies. Ask whether the item was transferred or destroyed. The Missouri State Archives holds some historic county and municipal records on microfilm, but it is not a current jail roster.
